The Big question right now is... "Can QUALITY fitness be achieved with online training?"
First, when I ask myself this question I think of how the Coke brothers would answer if they were asked "If their products are worth buying?". But I will go ahead and look into this and TRY to be as unbiased as possible.
If someone asked me that question, I would have to ask a couple of questions back at them. Because I do believe that fitness is very individual. And I don't think you can get as good as being in the gym with your coach. But everyone's life is different, and most of the time because of a job, a family and maybe a few friends as well. This makes it hard for people to make fitness a priority in their life. Especially if they are just trying to start back up again.
With quality online coaching, I feel like people can reach their health and fitness goals. I have taught a lot of fitness classes throughout my years, and for days I was unable to make it to my class and teach, I would ask one of the better athletes in the class to go ahead and lead a mild training session. (I know this is not ideal, But to be fair most of these classes where when I was active duty military and I had a 24/7 job on top of teaching my classes.) These people I would entrust to help guide the athletes through the class would say something like this -
-I have never done anything like this before.- (even though they knew what they were doing, they still lacked the ability to... for one... Teach and facilitate a class. And two... they would say something along the line of, "I am not sure what to do" accompanied by "You just tell us what to do, and then we do it.")
When I heard something like the above, I came to the conclusion that there are athletes and coaches. People that will dive into books and internet research to deliver the best product they can to the athletes in the class. And people who (nothing against them) do not really want to spend the time and effort figuring out what they will do that day.
Even the best of athletes will need a coach! Also the people who are just starting out. I think that online fitness coaching IS a alternative for the people who do not have the lifestyle to go to the gym everyday. Someone to help them track and develop solid workout plans.
Or I could be selling my own product. Everyone can debate whether a triathlon or someone training for a marathon is in the best shape. But one thing is for certain-
